About Us

You’ve probably chanced across or deliberately come to our website because of a recommendation or interest in EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, about which we are both passionate as an approach to healing not just recent trauma, but often old stuff buried deep in past experience.

We were both originally trained as integrative, transpersonal psychotherapists at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (CCPE) near Paddington in London, and since the Covid pandemic began in March 2020, we now work exclusively and internationally online, from our home on England’s North Norfolk coast.

If you’d like to know more, do explore this Braynework website, the training website of our sister organisation EMDR Focus, or if you’re seriously curious, our idiosyncratically-titled blog The Psychlo-Therapists.

First meeting in Moscow in 1974, when Jutta was working in the West German embassy and Mark was on his first reporting assignment for the Reuters news agency, we have since lived and travelled around the world, from Berlin, Vienna and Beijing to London – and with our tandem Daisy2, especially also New Zealand (where the picture on the previous page has us waving a cyclist’s hello from above Lake Taupo on the North Island.)

We’ve also had our own rather special journey as a couple (in March 2017 celebrating 40 years since our first wedding, in Bavaria), with 13 years apart before we finally got the hang (largely) of how relationships work, remarrying in 2013.

We hope that our pre- and post-therapy journeys, and our work and experience as therapists and as a couple, give us some useful insights, and tools with EMDR, to support folk who come to us hoping to Find Direction.

We look forward to hearing from you, and hope you enjoy our website.
